Round Table Discussion organised by the Association of Theatre Directors in collaboration with the Maribor Theatre Festival

The Association of Theatre Directors has been established in May 2012 due to the conviction that, on the one hand, Slovenian theatre is a public good and one of the rare fields in which –both by quality and professionalism – we measure up to top European theatres. On the other hand, it is an essential cornerstone of Slovenian cultural and artistic identity. The Association is primarily dedicated to the development of the vocation as well as the artistic practices of theatre directors.

We believe that, following the turning points in theatre in the past century and after the conclusion of the first decade of this century the need occurs for systematic auto-reflection through which the profession can develop and provide the spiritual and material conditions for creating within the institutional, independent, and educational theatre systems.

That is why we are preparing the event within the frame of the Maribor Theatre Festival

4 + 4 + 4.

Artists Ivana Djilas, Barbara Novakovič Kolenc, Matjaž Zupančič, Zvone Šedlbauer, Jernej Lorenci, Janez Janša, Jure Novak in Boris Kobal will present 10-minute contributions on their own visions of theatre. The event will be a tryout in auto-reflection and mutual dialogue as well as an expression of the awareness of the importance of vital, deliberate, innovative and tradition-infused theatre.
