Staged reading of 10-minute dramatic texts by first and second year students of AGRFT in the departments of Dramaturgy and Performing Arts, Theatre Directing, and Dramatic Acting, under the mentorship of Doc. Žanina Mirčevska, M.A.
Following the introduction of the Bologna studies system (in the school year 2009/10), the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in Ljubljana has introduced several subjects connected to playwriting. Since then playwriting has been taught at AGRFT as a separate artistic discipline intended for the departments of Dramaturgy and Performing Arts, Theatre Directing, and Dramatic Acting. The first level comprises the following subjects: Elements of Playwriting and Screenplaywriting, Playwriting I, Playwriting II and Playwriting III. The M.A. level at the Department of Dramaturgy and Playwriting includes: Elementary Playwriting Techniques, Dramatic Models and Types, and Dramatic Forms and Formats. The aim of the new programme is, among others, to stimulate, develop and affirm playwriting as a special professional discipline.
In the past semester, first year students of the departments of Dramaturgy and Performing Arts and of Theatre Directing, as well as second year students of the Department of Dramatic Acting, have written some interesting 10-minute dramatic texts that were created within the frame of the subject Elements of Playwriting and Screenplaywriting. The Maribor Theatre Festival presents through the perspective of those young authors – who might once become the professional playwrights of our time – several dramatic, humorous, touching, amusing and, last but not least, original dramatic texts that are a reflection of today’s world …
