E.T.U.D.E. is not a performance. It is an etude. A short one. With a very simple story. No one knows what one is supposed to do if one tackles puppetry for one’s Master’s degree. This etude has an answer to that. And the answer is: This. The aim of the Master’s studies was to get acquainted with as many puppetry techniques as possible. And that is the aim of this presentation. To animate a mimic table puppet. To make the objects, marionettes, children’s toys, come to life. But most of all to leave within oneself the dark themes that pester the modern man and allow for the fairy tales and childlike joy to reign at least for a moment.
To achieve that childishly light things seem childishly easy. And yet they aren’t. It turned out that the task was harder than imagined. This is one of the reasons why murders and bodily fluids were impossible to avoid in this performance.
