A photographic exhibition of portraits and photographs of Stane Sever in various roles

It has been already more than 30 years since the first Sever Awards for Actor’s Achievement in Theatrical Arts were given on the Škofja Loka stage; a few more years have passed since the artist’s death. On the occasion of this solemn anniversary and in memory of one of our best dramatic actors in the history of Slovenian theatre, we have organised an exhibition in Škofja Loka Museum in collaboration with the Škofja Loka Museum Association and the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television from Ljubljana. The exhibition features photographs by three masters: Vlastja Simončič, Leon Dolinšek, and Željko Stevanić.
All three of them were akin to Sever both on the human and the artistic level (that is why they were depicting him). At the same time, their photographs exude their sincere love for theatre. The photographs mostly show visual moments from theatre productions in which Stane Sever went beyond the usual actor’s capacities. Some in turn reveal a more personal side of the Artist. Since the majority of good-quality shots that we managed to obtain are the work of a legendary photographer of international reputation – the pedagogue and cinematographer Vlastja Simončič – it is understandable that the exhibition focuses upon his portraiture mastery.
