Presentation of the project/information tool in preparation by Novi ZATO.
Iphigenia is a web application that is has been developed as a public cultural programme of the information activities of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia. The architect of the programme is Novi ZATO. Iphigenia provides the theatre sector with a contemporary IT basis for a content-programmatic as well as business overview of a production from the artistic vision through the business and production processes all the way to the archiving and documenting of the finished theatre production, which means heritage.
Iphigenia contains three basic content clusters that are mutually connected through content and functionality: pre-production, production and post-production. Along with the modules that the theatres can use individually or in their entirety, Iphigenia offers a systemic and comprehensive tool that follows a production from its long-term planning through its inclusion in the repertoire to the very last re-run. Iphigenia simultaneously archives and follows all the events concerning the programme of a theatre. It is terminologically and methodologically synchronised with the Ministry of Culture’s mode of working in the field of performing arts. Iphigenia also enables exporting data that is required for the yearbook prepared by the Slovenian Theatre Institute, the data encompassed by the digital database REP on the Slovenian theatre portal sigledal.org as well as the monthly events that can be directly exported from the monthly plan either to the website of a theatre or to the calendar of events at the portal sigledal.org.As a web application, Iphigenia has been developed using open-source web technologies: PHP, Javascript, PostgreSQL. The chosen platform and technologies enable simple central managing, maintenance and application upgrading. As the application is running through the search engine, all current search engines in all major operation systems are supported. The application is shaped through responsive web design, which means that it works both on computers and mobile devices. So far the following Slovenian theatres are using it: the Drama of the Slovenian National Theatre Maribor, Ljubljana Puppet Theatre, Maribor Puppet Theatre, Ljubljana City Theatre, Ptuj City Theatre, Prešeren Theatre Kranj, Celje People’s Theatre, Mladinsko Theatre, he Slovenian National Theatre Drama Ljubljana and the Slovene National Theatre Nova Gorica.
